UAC official statement regarding CAIR Seattle
The United American Committee stands by the accounts given of its Rally Against Islamofascism in Seattle which took place March 31st. Statements made by CAIR's Washington DC headquarters denying the accounts of their Seattle office taking part in the rally are regrettable and most importantly not supported by the facts. Numerous first hand accounts support the UAC's original press release describing the statements at the rally made by Arsalan Bukhari, president of the Seattle, Washington chapter of the CAIR, in which he stated his denunciation of Jihadism, Hamas, and radical elements within Islam. It is unfortunate that CAIR is unable to support its members when they openly denounce terrorist organizations and imposition of religious law on democracies. It cannot be known if the CAIR national chapter is pressuring Mr. Bukhari or, even worse, if Mr. Bukhari only participated in the rally as a deceptive ploy to gain attention. However, the UAC can, with certainty, rebuke CAIR's baseless accusations of bigotry and Islamophobia. Despite these unfortunate events, the UAC maintains its open invitation to any and all Americans and organizations willing to join the UAC in denouncing Hamas, Hezbollah, Sharia Law, and all forms of Islamist aggression that endanger our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
